Enquire about enrolmentRhythm, imagination and movement
Contemporary / Jazz classes introduce children to contemporary dance and jazz through technical exercises, creative tasks and age-appropriate choreography.
The programme has two consecutive age classes: Mini for ages 4–7 and Kids for ages 8–14. Both are suitable for beginners and for children complementing their classical ballet training.
What classes are like
Lessons include warm-up, technical exercises, dance combinations and choreography. Contemporary explores fluid and sharp movement, different tempos, floor work and improvisation. Jazz exercises focus on rhythm, clear movement, coordination and musical accents.
What we develop
- Rhythm and musicality.
- Coordination, balance and spatial awareness.
- Movement memory and concentration.
- Strength and flexibility.
- Imagination, expression and confidence.
Creative tasks and choreography
Children discover their own movement and express a mood, image or short story. Choreographic work develops synchronisation, spatial awareness and attention to others.
Trial class
No previous dance experience is required. After the trial class, we will recommend the class that best matches the child's age and preparation.
