Enquire about enrolmentIntensive training for dedicated young dancers
Advanced is the programme of Prima Donna ballet school for children with previous dance training who are ready for more in-depth study.
With approximately 40 hours of classes per month, the programme combines classical ballet, repertoire, character and historical dance, Contemporary / Jazz, pointe work, acting for dance and conditioning. The disciplines complement one another to develop technique, physical ability and artistry.
Classical ballet and repertoire
Training follows the principles of the Agrippina Vaganova method. We work on barre and centre exercises, adagio, jumps and turns. Repertoire and character dance develop style, musicality and stage interpretation.
Pointe work
Pointe work is introduced after an individual assessment of technical and physical readiness. Training progresses gradually, with close attention to placement, stability and control.
Advanced Contemporary / Jazz
This discipline is part of Advanced and is not offered as a separate enrolment group. Students work with body weight, breath, momentum, floor work, dynamics and transitions between levels. Jazz training develops clear lines, rhythmic precision, coordination, turns, jumps and confidence. Improvisation and choreographic tasks develop individual expression and the connection between movement and emotion.
Supporting disciplines
Conditioning and PBT/PCT develop strength, stability, endurance and control. Acting for dance helps students build a character and communicate emotion through movement, focus and gesture.
Stage and individual work
Students prepare for concerts, competitions and international finals. Repertoire and appearances are selected according to each child's readiness and goals. Individual lessons may be arranged for technique, solo repertoire and specific competition work.
Admission
Admission follows a level-assessment class and a conversation with the parents. We consider previous training, technical skill, physical readiness, motivation and the ability to attend consistently.
